The VGTExtract tool is a small freeware tool made by VITO. It is a simple and user-friendly tool which can extract (clip/crop) and reformat all VGT4AFRICA imagery. This tool was specially designed and made for the VGT4AFRICA project. But it can also be used outside the scope of the VGT4AFRICA project.
Why do we need such a tool?
All images sent in the framework of VGT4AFRICA project will contain data for a full window of the African continent and will be produced in the HDF (Hierarchical Data format) format. This is not always the Region of Interest (ROI) nor the data format that the end-user needs, in order to feed his tools. The VGTExtract tool fills the gap between what we deliver, and what the African EO-expert needs.
The functionality of the VGTExtract tool is:
- Extracting sub-regions by
- either selecting one of the predefined countries and regions.
- or defining your Region of Interest (ROI) yourself.
- Reformatting the products into the following formats:
- ASCIIGrid
- HDF4
- ENVI
- ER-Mapper
- GeoTiff
- IDRISI
- ILWIS
- Raw binary
- Tiff
- And encoding the different datasets in a specific product with scale and offset.
