Through EUMETCast satellite broadcasts, the DevCoCast partners will share:
- Weather & climate information from ACMAD (Niger)
- Agro-meteorological information from AGRHYMET regional centre (Niger)
- Fire data from CSIR Meraka Institute (South Africa)
- CBERS data from INPE (Brazil)
- Marine data from MA-RE UCT (South Africa), PML (United Kingdom) and JRC (Italy)
- SPOT-VEGETATION environmental data and multi-sensor Desert Locust data from VITO (Belgium)
African users can participate in
- 4 international land workshops, extending those of VGT4Africa project and organized jointly with AMESD
- 2 international ocean workshops
- a 2 week, in depth training at ITC
- specific training on the use of CBERS, including virtual courses and a workshop in Brazil
- several local and regional workshops and fora, where DevCoCast products are promoted
In addition, all users can:
- use the stand-alone training material
- get direct support
- join efforts with us in refining the products and developing or improving applications, for instance through linked PhD and MSc programs
EUMETCast satellite receivers are built up or upgraded to operational status at 4 large marine ecosystem monitoring services in
- Ghana
- Namibia
- Tanzania
- Senegal
These 4 marine end-users are supported to embed the marine data they receive into their applications.
Additional EUMETCast receivers are also built up in 3 pilot national Desert Locust Centres in Eritrea, Mali and Sudan, to support UN-FAO′s fight against the Desert Locust.
